In two days, I’ll be competing in my first ever fighting game tournament, Philly Summer Jam 3. The game I’ll be playing is Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which might sound familiar as I contributed music to it along with many others from the OC ReMix community!

For years, I only played fighting games casually. However, once HDRemix came out, I became a lot more interested in the genre and started to take it more seriously. I think fighting games sometimes get a bum rap as mindless button-mashers, but that accusation really isn’t true. HDRemix is an incredibly deep game that, thanks to Dave Sirlin‘s careful balancing and optimization, is also easy to learn.

Though I have no idea what to expect in terms of my ranking, I’m really looking forward to this event and just having fun with it. Of course, I’ll be representing the character Fei Long, whose theme I remixed for the game. WAAAATAH!
