New services page: Let me write, produce and design music for you

November 11th, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

If you look at the navigation bar, you’ll now see a link to Services, a page that outlines all the custom and commissioned stuff I can do for you. These services range from custom music composition (film, TV, radio, DVD, podcast, or anything in between), music production and engineering (for fellow musicians and artists), synthesis and sound design (great for composers and producers looking for unique sounds) and sample library development.

I’ve been writing custom music, mixing, mastering, designing sounds and creating sample libraries for awhile: this is just the first time I’ve made a comprehensive page for it! Whether your budget has six zeros or just one, I can work with you on just about any project or deadline. This is what I eat, sleep and breathe, so please don’t hesitate to send me an email if you’re interested!

    Hey Blaque here…

I’m a 20 year old guy from Richards Bay in South Africa. I have been using Fl Studio for 2 years now. I can create a professional mixes and export tracks to play for my friends. Overtime they have told me to go commercial and take music seriously. I produce house music and would like to know how to do mastering on fl studio. Being an amatuer and having no start up capital to start my own production company I don’t have the nessecary funds.

Normally I use the Multiband Compressor, the Parametic Eq, Softclipper and Fruity Balance to sort of mix my song completely. I want to know how do I increase the volume without clipping and distorting the track.

And what good sample Eqauliser preset is good for deep hopuse music..

Very concerned and desperate for mastering….

Hi Blaque! Mastering to me is not a separate process from producing a song. Selecting sounds that gel together, using EQ properly on each track (mainly, cutting out low-end) and balancing parts are all crucial to a finely-polished final product. Even the notes you write make a difference. If your song is in the key of Bb minor and your bass is hitting a very low Bb, your low-end will sound muddy. Your kick might be tuned to Db and you’ll get even more mud as a result. If you write chords in low pads, the same thing can happen.

So, you need to develop and ear for production in general and use tools like Parametric EQ2 constantly to cut out unwanted frequencies. Listen to popular house tracks to figure out how to best adjust your own instrument and drum volume levels. When you’re ready to put something on the master track, there are tons of good compressors and limiters out there. I personally use TRacks Compressor and TLs Pocket Limiter (free) along with a little bit of EQ. TLs Maximizer or W1 Limiter are good for getting the volume even higher, though you have to be careful with these.
