If you’ve used FL Studio 9, you probably already know about Just Hold On, the progressive trance song I wrote to demo the program (with additional writing + performance by my wife, Jill!)
What you probably don’t know, however, is that “Just Hold On” was based on an instrumental called “Dreamer” I wrote over a year and a half ago. As part of my upcoming album, I’ve decided to go back to this song, now called “Just Hold On Eternal” and finish it, integrating the vocals from the FL version of the song.
There will also be new vocal parts and the whole thing will clock in at an epic 5+ minutes. This is almost like a successor to Antigravity and I’m really excited about it! Check out the MP3 below for a preview –
I’m pleased to announce that over 50 original tracks (many of which have never been released) are now available for licensing at my Licensing Store! This collection includes tracks from Antigravity and Fittest, plus original instrumental hip-hop, dramatic orchestral pieces, subtle underscore, New Age/world and more.
The new licensing store, provided by LicenseQuote, allows anybody to easily browse my collection of available music by genre, tag and description. Upon finding the right track, a quote can be generated by using the intuitive licensing calculator, which determines an approximate fee based on the type of usage and a number of other factors.
So, if you have a film, video game, advertising, TV, DVD or any other kind of media project, no matter how big or small, check out the new store! I’ll be updating it regularly with new music from now on, so if you have a consistent need for music, keep checking back (or shoot me an email to talk about custom/exclusive compositions.)
In addition to my various other projects, I’ve been working on producing an instrumental hip hop CD. Why?! To see if I can, of course! Before starting, I collected dozens of reference albums, songs and instrumentals to study, with the help of various aficionados on OCR. I’ve now written and produced nine instrumentals to date, ranging in style from underground, jazzy hip hop to reggaeton, dirty south/crunk, 90s uptempo R&B, and even futuristic electro hip hop in the style of the Black Eyed Peas.
I don’t think I’ll be selling this album, since it’s almost more of a production exercise, but I’ll probably make it available in some form or another, and it will definitely be available for licensing too. Below you can download one of the tracks I finished today, a rather minimal, futuristic instrumental in the vein of the BEP as mentioned above. Enjoy!
I’ve just returned from the annual Game Developers Conference in San Francisco where I spent five days hanging out with some of the nicest people in the video game industry! This was my first time at the SF GDC, an event that is geared toward video game industry professionals (or aspiring professionals), audio guys included. It is also home to the Game Audio Network Guild award ceremony, hosted by Paul Lipson and Tommy Tallarico.
Before I go into more detail about GDC itself, I’m very excited to announce that I’m working on the soundtrack to the recently-announced LucasArts game, Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge! Much like the first Monkey Island Special Edition, MI2SE is a remake of the original MI2, featuring all-new high-definition graphics, an integrated hint system, improved controls and, of course, an updated musical score. I’m working with Dan Reynolds, Jeff Ball and Will Roget on this project, which spans over 80 minutes of music. The game will be available this Summer on XBLA, PSN, PC, iPhone and iPod Touch!
…or for anyone outside of the U.S., Happy 31st of October! If you need some sufficiently macabre music for your monster mashes, check out the full version of Necromancy, free at Protagonist Records!
For more drum n’ bass treats, you can pick up the entire album at the Protag store.
While you can stream and download my remixes and original songs from the Music page, now you can download MP3s even more easily at the new Free MP3s directory!
Besides access to all of my video game remixes, various originals and non-video game remixes, I’ve also added the six winners from my Antigravity remix contest.
Once you’re at the Free MP3s page, just click on the directory you want and download away!
This is a new progressive trance/house song I wrote for Image-Line FL Studio 9, the latest version of my favorite music-making program! I was honored to write this demo song: it features the voice of my wife Jill, who also wrote the lyrics and collaborated with me on the melody.
What you see and hear in the video below is 100% FL Studio 9 with no external sounds or synths; just goes to show how powerful it is. Remember to click on the video and watch on YouTube.com if you want to see it in higher resolution!
Fittest - Original Soundtrack
